Could we merge up this thread and the "pre-searing ascalon and Gwen" thread? They both have one subject.
My idea:
Gwen either escaped through the catacombs, had a hike till kourna where we find that flower, and now, homesick she's coming back.
OR
Gwen, kidnapped by the Charr, was meant to be burnt alive (althea anyone?) or summthing fiery and nasty, but, there's always a 'but', somehow she became one with the flames (you got a glimpse of that in beta, right?). Her sorrow, pain of loss and anger for the Charr all charged her up and lost control, breaking free, incenerating the Charr Warband (yay!) and leaving ruins wherever she goes. Next target are the dwarves who see her as that myth of theirs made real. Luckily you come up and beat some sense in her head again. After that, the new sane-minded Gwen comes with you (as an elementalist hero, perhaps) and you move on.
I'm guessing, that like all the other heroes she will have her own armor. So that MAY be mesmer-looking but she's a natural when it comes to burn stuff, don't you think?

The burning stuff wasn't really in the scope of the plot, though, so that might not even be a factor. Sort of like dragons killing everyone off in the Factions preview - it didn't actually "happen".
I personally preferred the Gwen thing just dropped; the urban myth sort of thing. And the level of obsession some people have over it is vaguely disturbing. But I can forgive a lot if it turns out she really is hot. Much can be forgiven for the sake of hotness.

That dragon was Kunnavang. We HAD to fight kunny and then she became an ally remember? could easily happen with Gwen.

As sane as that would be, the chances of the Gwen thing dropping are really slim if nonexistant.

prism2525, isn't that the way Cynn escaped the charrs when she was little? I remember reading the manual for the first GW and it said that Cynn was trapped inside a house. Charrs were ready to make a meal out of her but she had enough and burn down the whole town.

True, but she was old enough to keep her mind sane enough. I'm just suggesting that her being a child and kinda well-disposed at using fire she could have bonded with the flames and did her own part of Charr-cooking.
This is just a personal idea, of course.

Never talk bad about Gwen or she'll follow you forever in game and tell you stories.

It's obvious that all female characters in GW were designed as 20-something gorgeous chicks to appeal to the young and erm, not so young male players.
And let's not forget that GW is played in 3rd person perspective, so you're going to stare at the asses of your characters all along. Also since role-playing is not a factor in GW, character selection boils down to picking either a female ass or a male ass. Unless you're gay (or watched over by a jealous loved one), it's kinda makes sense to pick an opposite-sex avatar.
By default, unless the players are less than 10-12 years old, or players with a self-esteem issue, I personnally assume that female avatars are likely male players and vice-versa.

Judging from her last performance in Ascalon, Gwen is probably acting Fire Goddess of the Charr. Naturally the good clothing comes with the position.
Question is, will she treat Ascalon born characters differently from those she never met?

Imo, YOU have a problem, my main caracter is a male, i'm 18 and certainly not gay or what else ? You have some problems with real life, just get a life man ! I really don't understand why picking a male carcter is gay-friendly... I prefer something which looks like me to a UGLY female mesmer or whatever other class.

In a first person or RPG-oriented game it wouldn't, but in a game where all your character choice determines is the backside you get to see all the time? Prefering a male butt for a male player f.i. certainly qualifies. Maybe it's subconscious, some gays only realize they were gays late in their life, after having had wife and kids. But there is nothing wrong, we're not the middle ages anymore, it's accepted, kinda.

Err... looks like you? I don't know what you look like, but it now sounds like an ego thing, and you need a strong looking counterpart to cover up a lack of self-confidence maybe? (unless you picked a necro for the goth). Or maybe it's just candor.
If that's one of your first toons, that's different, first times through the game one can't know that no RPG will ever be involved, and roleplaying the other sex, now that is something else.
Anyhow, I can't see how you guys can give the impression of surprise, is this feinted naivete or what? The statistics are well known, female avatars outnumber male ones, yet only a fraction of the player base is actually female. Other clue is the way marketing limits the female clothing to a minimum (just look at the GW box covers for crying out loud).
It shouldn't take a superior degree in astrophysics or psychology to figure out the rest.

OMG you sick freak!
I think the "I look at my ass" people posting here explain alot about why pugs can be so challenging.
I'm here to break things and kill people, didn't know I was also playing the game the wrong way.

I have 3 male characters out of 9. First Character (necro), is male because I prefer the look of the males, and he sort of reminds me of myself. My assassin is male because I just can't stand the twigs that are female assassins. My Dervish is male because of the dance, you can't beat a Christopher Walken dance!
Now back on subject.
Gwen is most likely not an elementalist, just look at the outfit she's wearing. (The link to the screen shot appears to have disappeared)

Let's get back to topic!
I think Gwen must of survived by going through the Catacombs. Then maybe she was found by the Charr and taken captive but there was something about her that they felt was powerful and made her princess and became evil.
Or
She could of escaped the Catacombs and lived a peaceful life but the Charr are making a return and she needs OUR help.
I think the whole Guild Wars community is obsessed the the Gwen myth because it's such a good mystery with this story of Guild Wars. I think it will be cool to play with the little girl you knew in Pre Searing who followed you around.
Maybe she will be like Mhenlo in Factions.
